wor(l)dbuilding

I co-authored wor(l)dbuilding, a collaborative zine that explores the intersections of our individual practices through experimental Xerox manipulation and collective image-making.

“Although each of us have diverse practices, we knew there was something in common, something that we knew was there but we couldn’t quite define.

We each selected two words to describe the root of our practice and the group as a whole:

  • Spirit realms and chaos.

  • Harmony and dissonance.

  • Sublime and pilgrimage.

  • Desire and macro.

  • Sanctity and filth.

  • Human connection and the past.

  • Faith and repetition.

  • Beauty and disgust.

The title wor(l)dbuilding united these intangible themes for which we have been developing visual languages. Contributing two or more images each, we experimented with the capabilities of free Xerox printers — overlaying our works, altering scale, colour, grain and texture. Slowly, we let go of individual authorship as the images evolved into a collective psychedelic object.”
